The season has been going
great. Everyone swam really well at the Beavercreek
meet this weekend. The pool was a meter pool, which is a
little longer than the swimmers are used to, but they all
adjusted just fine. There were a lot of improvements on
technique even if the times are hard to compare. Technique and
body position are so much more important than time at this
age. Sometimes a change that we ask for now may mean slower
times. But once they get used to the movement and have the
strength to back it, those changes really pay
off.
The Kingfish Group will have one more meet
before the New Year. It will be December 5th &
6th at the Springfield YMCA and we have 9 Kingfish
swimming. Warm-ups
will be sent out and posted after all the entries are turned into
the host team.
There are 4 meets after the New Year.
Don’t forget that each swimmer must swim in 3 YMCA meets in
order to participate at the Championship Meets. They do not have to
swim everyday of the meet. If you can only make Saturday, then only
swim Saturday.
This week we are only having practice on
Tuesday as many people are out of town or have family obligations
for the Thanksgiving holiday. An email from Coach Eric will be
going out with a practice schedule for the week.
We also have a new motivation
program. Each practice we are recognizing two swimmers who
show all the best qualities of the YMCA and our swim
team. They are "THE Kingfish" and get to wear a special cap at
the next practice. Look for the Yellow and Red caps to see
who our winners are.
We are having some issues with swimmers
losing equipment at practice. Please be sure to label
everything and to check your child's bag after practice to
make sure they have all of their items. A special Thank You to all
the parents for your help in the locker rooms after practice.
Everyone has been much better behaved and shows what great kids and
families we have that are a part of KEY Swimming.
